Closing Out the 2015-2016 Season

The 2015-2016 season was one of GW Mock Trial’s most successful seasons in recent memory. We are very proud of the combined team efforts that led us to taking two teams to ORCS and a team to Nationals this year. We’re pleased with our showings this year and getting to see all of our hard work come to fruition. A big thank you to all of the competitors, students, parents, coaches, and friends that supported the team throughout this year.

We do need to say a couple goodbyes as well. Graduating seniors Izabella Babchinetskaya, Elisa Egonu, and Molly Hogan closed out their mock careers in Greenville, SC at the Bell Tower National Championship Tournament. A huge congratulations to those three as they move on to their chosen paths! We wish them nothing but the best of luck and know they’ll keep in touch with GW Mock Trial. Thank you all for dedicating so much time and effort to this team, we greatly appreciate it and know that you will all do great things in the future.

Nationals Bound

GW Mock Trial had a great couple of days on our own turf of Washington, DC this weekend, March 19-20th. We’d like to thank the University of Virginia for hosting the Capital City Opening Round Championship Series and for a well-run tournament! Our A and B Teams both had impressive showings.

Our B team finished the weekend with a strong record of 4-4. A special congratulations to sophomore captain, Alex Simone, on her individual award!

Our A team earned the second bid out to the National Championship Tournament with a record of 7-1! Congratulations to the whole team! And shout-out to Molly Hogan and Paden Gallagher for their individual awards!

Big thanks to all the friends and family that came out to support the team and a special thank you to our coaches, Jeremy Carter, Anneliese Mahoney and Kyle West, for helping us get this far.

We’re setting our eyes on Greenville, SC now and are starting to prep our State of Midlands v. Skyler Sinclair cases. 12874221_10209115791714490_2036461457_o

Two GW Mock Trial Teams Advance to ORCS

We are ecstatic to share that GW Mock Trial’s A and B Teams both had a great weekend, February 27-28, at the Baltimore, MD Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Maryland, College Park! We’d like to thank the University of Maryland, College Park for an extremely well run tournament.

After four rounds of great competition, our A team finished as the only team at the tournament with a perfect record of 8-0 and the first bid out to ORCS. An additional congratulations to Sean Simon and Izabella Babchinetskaya on their individual awards!

We’re also immensely proud of our B team’s performance this weekend. With a stellar record of 6-2, they also earned a bid to ORCS! Special congrats to Nadia Creve Coeur and Paden Gallagher for their individual awards!

We’d also like to take a moment to recognize the unsung heroes of this weekend that we don’t acknowledge on our website nearly enough, our coaches. Although we are a student-run program, the comments and advice from our three coaches is truly invaluable to us. This past weekend, we were fortunate enough to have them all make the trip with us to Baltimore, MD so a huge thank you to Jeremy Carter, Anneliese Mahoney and Kyle West for helping us get this far! We can’t wait to continue on the #RoadtoNationals with you guys.

We’re looking forward to some intense preparation in the coming weeks as we get ready to compete in the Opening Round Championship Series hosted in our own backyard, right here in Washington, DC!
