GW Takes Two Teams to the Bell Tower Opening Round Championship Series

GW Mock Trial took two teams to the Bell Tower Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) hosted by Furman University in Greenville, SC March 20-22nd. After three days of great competition, both teams ended with a record of 4-4. We are proud of the showing our program had in South Carolina where we got to see all of our hard work in action!

Success at the Richmond Regional Tournament!

This past weekend, GW Mock Trial’s A and C Teams both earned the program bids to the next level of competition; the Opening Round Championship Series, or “ORCS.” We are immensely proud of all the work put in by both teams, and are especially proud of such a young team performing so well.

2015 marks the first time in four years that GW’s program has taken two teams to the ORCS level of competition.

Patrick Henry Invitational

Our B and C Teams had impressive showings at the Patrick Henry Invitational this January, with the C team placing 4th in the tournament, and taking home five individual awards between the two teams. Specifically, Sherin Nassar, Alex Simone, Meenu Mathews, Amanda Lam, and Elisa Egonu won awards for their performances. Thank you to Patrick Henry for hosting our teams, and for the great post-season practice.

Temple & Duke Invitationals

Two of our teams competed this past weekend, with one team competing at the Tobacco Road Invitational at Duke University and another team competing at the Hooter Invitational at Temple University. Both teams did exceptionally well, considering the one-week turnaround from their previous tournament. Several members also won individual awards. Congratulations to Molly Hogan and Izabella Babchinetskaya for their Outstanding Attorney awards at Duke, and to Zachary Speck for winning Outstanding Attorney and Amanda Pierson for winning Outstanding Witness at Temple University.

Our third team will be competing this weekend at the WONK tournament at American University. Good luck!

UPenn Quaker Classic Successes

A huge congratulations is in order for the entire organization following the competition at the University of Pennsylvania last weekend. Each of our three teams placed, with Z Team coming in first place with 8 wins, X Team coming in second place with 7.5 wins, and Y Team coming in fifth place with 6.5 wins. In addition, several members won individual awards. Outstanding witness awards were won by Julie Lucarelli, Jenna Cafora, and Thomas Toman. Outstanding attorney awards were won by Elisa Egonu, Paden Gallagher, and Izabella Babchinetskaya. Again, this weekend showed incredible growth from the first tournaments we competed in, and we look forward to seeing similar successes at upcoming tournaments. Congratulations, team!
